Considering Divorce?
We handle all issues related to divorce:
- Division of marital property: Marital property includes property, assets and debts that were acquired during the marriage. We provide knowledgeable representation that protects our clients' rights and their contributions to the marriage. Property can include homes, vehicles, real property, businesses, stocks, bonds, 401(k) plans and more.
- Child custody and visitation: We educate our clients about realistic outcomes regarding child custody and visitation that protect your children's best interests. The State of Missouri believes children should have maximum contact with both parents. However, contact with the children can be limited when one parent is an "impaired parent" because of drug use or alcohol abuse.
- Child support: The amount of child support payments that will be required in Missouri is determined by state guidelines. Factors that are included in the calculation include each parent's income, any special needs of the children, the time each parent spends with the children, health insurance costs and other issues.
- Spousal maintenance: "Alimony" is designed to provide the lower-earning spouse with permanent or temporary financial support to maintain a standard of living that was acquired during the marriage.
Establishing Legal Paternity
Paternity issues can affect both married and unmarried couples. Establishing your child's legal paternity settles visitation and child support issues for both parents.
Modification to Family Court Orders
Changes to family court orders are generally requested because of a significant change in a material situation — an increase in the income of one party or a parent relocating to another state, for example.
